How to Find Local Sports Groups in Your London Borough

London Sports Community · 22 February 2026

The Problem: Finding Sports in London Shouldn't Be This Hard

London is a city of nine million people, and thousands of them are playing sport every single week. Football kickabouts in Hackney Marshes. Tennis sessions in Wandsworth Park. Padel courts in Hyde Park. Running crews in Brixton. Yoga in warehouse studios in Dalston.

The sport is happening. The problem is finding it.

Most sports groups in London rely on Instagram posts, WhatsApp groups, and word of mouth to attract new members. If you've just moved to a new borough — or even just want to try a new sport — discovering what's available near you can feel impossible. You end up scrolling through Facebook groups, Googling endlessly, and still not finding what you need.

That's exactly why we built London Sports Community.

What Is London Sports Community?

London Sports Community is a free directory of sports groups across all 33 London boroughs. We list everything from casual weekend football to competitive badminton leagues, from beginner padel sessions to ultra-running crews.

Our goal is simple: make it easy to find people to play sport with in London.

No app to download. No subscription. No membership fees. Just a clean, searchable directory that helps you find your next game.

How to Filter by Borough

Every group on London Sports Community is tagged with the London borough it operates in. This means you can filter results to see only groups near you.

The 33 London boroughs we cover include:

Central: Westminster, City of London, Camden, Islington, Southwark, Lambeth

East: Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Havering

North: Haringey, Enfield, Barnet

South: Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Merton, Kingston, Richmond

West: Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Ealing, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Brent, Harrow, Wandsworth

You can combine sport and borough filters. For example, want to find padel in Westminster? Or football in Hackney? Just select both filters on the browse page, or visit dedicated pages like padel-westminster or football-hackney.

Each Group Listing Includes

When you find a group that interests you, our listings provide:

  • Group name and description — what they do and who they're for
  • Sport and borough — easy identification
  • Skill level — whether it's beginner-friendly, intermediate, or advanced
  • Day and time — when they typically meet
  • Contact link — direct link to their website, Instagram, or WhatsApp group

We try to include as much useful information as possible so you can decide if a group is right for you before reaching out.

Submit Your Own Group

Run a sports group in London? We want to list you — for free.

Our Submit a Group page takes about two minutes to complete. We ask for:

1. Your group name

2. The sport you play

3. Which borough you're based in

4. A brief description

5. Skill level

6. When and where you meet

7. A contact link (website, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.)

Once submitted, our team reviews the listing to ensure quality, and then it goes live on the site. There's no cost, no catch, and no limit to how many groups you can submit.

Why submit? Because the more groups we list, the easier it becomes for Londoners to find sport. Every listing makes the directory more useful for everyone.

SEO Pages for Every Sport × Borough Combination

One of the things that makes London Sports Community unique is our dedicated pages for every sport and borough combination. That means there's a specific page for:

These pages are designed to be genuinely useful if you're searching for sport in a specific area. They show all relevant groups and provide local context about where to play.

A Growing Community

London Sports Community is a growing project. We're adding new groups every week, and we rely on submissions from the community to keep the directory comprehensive and up to date.

Here's how you can help:

1. Browse and play — find a group, join a session, get moving

2. Submit groups — know a group we're missing? Submit it

3. Share the word — tell your teammates, your running buddy, your gym friend

4. Give feedback — we're always improving. Let us know what would make the site more useful

Sport is better with other people. And finding those people shouldn't be the hard part. That's what we're here to fix.
